When your an Addams... - my experience so far in Addams Family.

Hellllllooooo!

Before I thought of what to write for this blog, I was thinking about maybe posting haiku, but I wasn't  up to that since my haiku are personal.  Maybe some other time. Then I was thinking, what exciting things are happening right now with my life, and so I though, "Oh yeah... I'm doing a musical... that's exciting." Guess what I'm going to write about.

So this is my first time really ever to be in a big play of any sort. I've teched the other musicals and plays, but that doesn't count. In elementary school, we were forced to put on a play/musical every year, but that definitely doesn't count. In my middle school, I join the after school "Drama" program, so I did short scenes with friends on a stage, but that doesn't really count either.

Rehearsal goes before you know it. We're rehearsing from 3:15-6:15 each school day. We've rehearsed for 2 months and we're on our third and final month, and it feels like it's at the end of the 2nd month. We learned all of the songs once, and Mike (the pianist of the Choral program) yells at us constantly. We have to learn the dances in a very short period of time, and so many of us forget by the next day.

Right now, the set (which look gorgeous YOU SHOULD CHECK IT OUT IN THE BLACK BOX) is being painted (I couldn't resist, I painted in my spare time) and it's looking amazing! Rob and Dino are really doing miracles to get it done (with help, of course, but still). Mizzee, our costume designer works wonders, too. All of the costumes that I've seen are awesome.

Just saying, if your unsure of seeing it, let me tell you this much. IF YOU KNOW A GROUCHY BIG MAN WHO YOU CAN'T REALLY SEE SMILING LAUGHING HIS HEAD OFF, THAT'S WHAT REHEARSAL IS LIKE EVERY DAY. GO AND SEE IT!

pax et fortuna,

-Aimee
